Tay & Partners successfully defends the Respondent in white collar crime
On 30 March 2017, the high court dismissed the prosecution's appeal to enhance the sentence of the respondent who was found guilty of forgery.
The respondent was represented by Tay & Partners. Counsel for the respondent submitted that a person having served his full sentence in prison and demonstrated remorse ought to be given a second chance in life to turn over a new leaf. The high court in dismissing the public prosecutor's appeal agreed with counsel and affirmed the lower court's sentencing which took into consideration public interest over the individual interest of the respondent when a deterrent sentence was imposed. Partner, Leonard Yeoh of Tay & Partners led the team together with Yeoh Jit Wei and Lincoln Seow.
